Leaving the Nest
We sent our first Moocher home on Friday. Mamie went to go live with 50K graduate, Cooper (Sonet). Her new name is...Mini! Get it? Mini Cooper? We also like Mini’s name because she’s a miniature version of her mom, Minnie.
Mini and Cooper’s family did the careful introduction... just let them smell each other and get a glimpse of each other first.
But by Saturday, Mini and Cooper were as thick as thieves, and Cooper was already giving Mini a tongue bath. Such a coincidence that joined two of our fosters in the same great family! How about that cool cat condo? Mini and Cooper’s dad constructed it from scratch.
Next up is TJ, who will be going to her new mom and big sis, Star, next Saturday.
We’ve been letting Minnie and the kittens have the run of the first floor more and more. They have such a great time romping and slipping and sliding Minnie as much as the kittens. Now, Minnie meows her desire to be let out if she hears us near her door.
After a good session, though, everybody is happy to return to the villa and crash for a nap.
On the human entertainment front, Jamie and Joy from Elephants Upstairs joined us for a HT fundraising evening last night that featured a live art auction. Neither Ted nor I had ever been to an auction, so Joy, who’s an experienced hand gave us tips. It was really fun and entertaining!
And yes, we did come away with a painting that we’ve already hung. We’ve decided to interpret the fox’s intentions as benevolent rather than nefarious...what do you think?
