Heading into last weekend, we thought Lincoln and Minnie were the only unclaimed Moochers. Our plans were to get the whole clan spayed and neutered this Thursday, then start sending kittens home this weekend.

The spay/neuter plan is still intact, but George and Jackie-O were thrown back into limbo Monday when the couple adopting them sent us e-mail informing us that they'd adopted two kittens Sunday night because "this lady really needed to get rid of them asap and we fell in love with them."

Sounds like a carefully considered plan. Let's hope those kittens have had their shots, tests, deworming, ear treatments, etc. Too bad the couple (for whom we'd scheduled this week's spay/neuter trip) didn't flake out before a Homeward Trails volunteer invested a couple hours of her Saturday driving out to meet them and handle their home visit.

Luckily, George seems to have already found a more solid home with a different young couple. Jackie-O remains unclaimed, but since TJ's adoption has been delayed until May 15, she'll have her sister around for a while yet.

And earlier this afternoon we were visited by a mom and her four young children, who had fun playing with the kittens and expressed an interest in adopting Lincoln (yay!) and Minnie together (double-yay!)

We've learned over the last few weeks not to assume any adoption is on rails until it actually happens, but even more than his siblings, Lincoln really loves his Mom, and seeing them go home together would be icing on the Moocherville cake.
