Luckies Head Home

Monday
1/21/2013

Things are certainly a lot quieter at 50K today! We started sending home the Lucky 13ers litter on Friday with Bunnyfoot and Clover headed home with their new mom and dad who had recently lost a beloved 19-year-old tortie.

They were looking forward to having a feline presence in the house again.

On Saturday, a young couple was coming by to both meet and take home Kachina and Cricket, whose photos they’d seen. However, when they walked in and found out that Jayden and Ollie were also looking for a home, they both expressed soft spots for black cats (our favorite kind of people!)

They were also unfazed when Ollie had to be dragged out from under the futon. He sat comfortably in her lap for quite a while, and we said we thought he would blossom after getting away from the big crowd of kittens. So, we were thrilled when they chose Jayden and Ollie! We had such good vibes from them. We’re looking forward to getting an update on how they (Ollie particularly) are doing.

Less than an hour after we sent the boys home, we packed up Penny and Shamrock (now Lucky) to do a delivery to their new mom’s apartment (she doesn’t have a car). We’ve never done a drop-off before, so it was interesting to see how the kittens totally made themselves at home when we let them out of the carrier – no hiding, just exploring!

Their mom let us know the next day that on their first evening at home, there was a fire alarm in the building, so she had to pack them up and head outside. Fortunately, a friend was visiting with a car, so they all got in the car and ran errands until it was ok to go home. Quite the exciting day for Penny and Lucky!

Their adopter has a studio apartment, so we were a little concerned that they would bother her all night, but she reported that they settled into the new cat tree next to her bed and slept quietly for eight hours. I’m sure they were pretty pooped out after a busy first day.

So that leaves us with Angel and her two girls, Kachina and Cricket, who do not seem bothered by having a little more room to themselves.

We imagine it won’t be long before someone snaps them up because they are so cute and playful.

We were disappointed to hear that the person who was considering adopting Chimay decided to hold off on adopting any cat right now. But Chimay is still enjoying life with the other cats at her foster home and her foster mom says she’s playful and likes to hang out near her (as long as she doesn’t try to pet her!)

We were thinking back to four years ago when we had the ‘Naugs – named after Inauguration day: Isabel, Ivory, and our scaredy-cat, Brennan. Hard to believe that was four years ago!
