Yesterday we drove to the Homeward Trails office and picked up the kittens assigned to us, who turned out to be a foursome from Wetzel, WV. The original plan had been to combine these four with a similarly-sized litter of three from the same shelter, but the threesome must have found another foster home.
We’re not complaining, since four active kittens make the 50K villa feel fully occupied. And this is not your run-of-the-mill foursome.
They’re:
a. All females.
b. All gorgeous.
c. Twin pairs.
d. Almost indistinguishable at a glance.
Two are dilute calicos. Luckily their markings have minor differences, so we should be able to tell them apart easily within a day or two.
The other two are gray tabbies with trace elements of buff coloring. Even when this pair sits side by side they look identical. Luckily one weighs several ounces more than the other.
Since baseball season is winding down and the Los Angeles Angels are sitting on a 10-game winning streak (and the best record in baseball), we decided to call this litter the Angels.
And so far they’ve been pretty angelic: no mewing in the car, playful, friendly (though a little shy), fastidious about the litter box, and apparently in great health.
We did see some weight loss from both tabbies today, but it’s too early to read anything into that, since we weighed them after lunch yesterday and at breakfast this morning.
So while we puzzle over how to distinguish one tabby angel from another, we’re hoping our readers will help us come up with names for our angelic foursome.
Bueller? Anyone?
