Niner

Litter number: 49
Kitten number: 206
Gender: m
Color: orange tabby + white

Siblings: Dorito, Bud, Raven

the largest of three orange-and-white boys in the Superbowlers litter, Niner was also the only sibling in that litter to gain weight the first night, which meant that he was able to nurse from his mom-cat Nola (who like Niner had a severe URI).

But our optimism for Niner faded when he started losing weight later on day two. We'd already begun tube-feeding his siblings, so we started tube-feeding him as well. We thought that if any of the Superbowlers would make it, it would be him. So after Raven died on day three, we were surprised that Niner was the next sibling to show the restlessness and rambling behavior we associate with rapid decline. We found him cold and sluggish outside the nest that evening. While we were able to warm him up and reanimate him, we suspected he might be the next casualty, and he died that night.
