One of four kittens in the Nanos litter, Uno arrived at 50K as a 4-ounce neonate, with his eyes unopened and umbilical cord still attached. He and his siblings got off to a good start, eating well and gaining weight.

Things started to go south when constipation gave way to soft poop and then diarrhea. Metronidazole and Panacur eventually tamed Uno's diarrhea, but he lost his appetite and became listless a little over a week after his arrival.

Despite our efforts to hand-feed him and keep him hydrated with saline injections, Uno became progressively weaker, following the path taken by his sister Poe. On his 12th day with us, he succumbed to "fading kitten syndrome". He died before his eyes ever opened.

Following on the heels of Poe's passing, Uno's death led us to a diagnosis (sepsis) and treatment (Clavamox) that we think saved their siblings Whitey and Nickel.
