a cow-spotted black and white kitten and alpha male, Dallas was also the designated snuggler of the Oscars litter. Since we bottle-fed the Oscars every four hours during their first two weeks with us, they all became quite comfortable being handled. After a few days at 50K, Dallas would start purring as soon as we picked him up, because he knew that meant it was his turn for the bottle. While Hustle waded into the wet food bowl first, Dallas managed to stay ahead of his siblings by snacking on babycat kibble. He eventually broadened his menu, but dry food remained a staple for him, which is one reason he never needed the baths we gave Hustle and Lupita during the weaning stage.

Though Sandra caught and passed him for a while, Dallas regained his momentum and was again the biggest and strongest Oscar by graduation day, even though he and Hustle had been neutered earlier in the week. He and Sandra moved together to the foster home of his adoption coordinator, who oversaw Sandra's spay and recovery.
