stimulate
to hold the kitten in the litter box after feeding it, and stroke its abdomen and genitals with a moist cotton pad. This mimics what Mom does with her tongue after nursing the kitten, and it triggers peeing and (sometimes) pooping. Very young kittens can’t pee or poop on their own, and require stimulation. Stimulating a kitten also teaches it to use the litter box.
